I just learned on ubuntuforums of a great addon for gedit editor in Linux (in fact, this is a patch for the gedit-latex-plugin): it is a gedit LaTeX plugin with live preview in split window, created by mihai007. This is fantastic feature that may "convert" me to edit my docs in gedit from now on
