I suppose that all ads seen in the forum pages (bottom and right column) come from Google AdSense. Part of them fit the contents of the forum, but many other are completely unrelated or even inappropriate: contacts, chats, music polytones, balloons, insoles, bodypainting, gloves, lingerie, etc. It is clear that "latex" and "community" may suggest or mean many different things.

I wonder if it is possible to filter the ads (particularly those of contacts, chats...) and show only those really interesting for the forum users: software, books, technology, computers...

Unfortunately google does not provide a way to filter the news, so we have to live with what they provide. Google parses the current pages content and selects suitable ads. So the more specific and detailed the page, the better it works. Unfortunately our main keyword "LaTeX" leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

I'm also not happy with this situation, but please understand, that I need the ads to keep the forum up and running, because the costs for the forum are imense. Read here to learn about the details.

Hi,

I removed all advertising banners on the site, as I moved the site to a new server and currently I'm able to privately pay server and hosting costs.
