General ⇒ .aux file modification

Recently I have been getting a window pop up each time I compile my project file. The message reads " ...project.aux has been modified outside TexnicCenter. Should TexnicCenter reload the document?" This occurs on 2 computers with different OS's. Examination of the file's date modified property shows that the .aux file has indeed been modified, but by what I haven't the foggiest. How can I deal with this?

Hi,

TeXnicCenter has not been updated since a long time and present and future of TeXnicCenter are unclear. Perhaps consider using TeXstudio or Texmaker, or give it a try.
