Theses, Books, Title pages ⇒ Master-doctoral-thesis template not compiling

Hi,

I'm new here, but hope someone can help.

In trying to compile the unaltered master/doctoral thesis template I found here:http://www.latextemplates.com/template/ ... ral-thesis, I got an error in the latest version of MikTex, as well as on Overleaf. I attached the log of the MikTex attempt, which gave these errors:

The Overleaf version compiles, but gives warnings on the same line:

Package hyperref Warning: Token not allowed in a PDF string (Unicode): (hyperref) removing `\ttitle' on input line 90. Package hyperref Warning: Token not allowed in a PDF string (Unicode): (hyperref) removing `\authorname' on input line 90. Package hyperref Warning: Token not allowed in a PDF string (Unicode): (hyperref) removing `\keywordnames' on input line 90.


Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend to do a fresh install of MikTeX. Some of our packages have seen recent updates, some are quite old and your kernel is very old. A fresh install will get you the latest package versions as well as the latest kernel. The template relies on a reasonably modern system.

By the way, the posted log file does not contain any error.

I indeed installed the new version of miktex over the old installation. Will try a fresh install and report back. btw, does it work on overleaf without errors for you?

Ooh, I downloaded a new version of TexWorks instead of MikTex ^^

Haven't worked with Latex in forever, sorry for the stupid simple mistake. Thank you for all your help, works fine now.

Of course. Just some warnings because the template keeps using the old BibTeX for atabase processing. I would recommend to use the modern processor biber.
