Hi, folks. I'm a copyeditor who works with clients of all kinds, including high tech and academics in STEM subjects (and art history, architecture, city planning, management...). Markdown is familiar, but I've just been challenged to edit something in LaTeX and have discovered this whole amazing world. Looking forward to learning everything I can and appreciate this community already. Based on a question from several years ago from another copyeditor, I've downloaded TeXworks and it worked great. Looking forward to seeing you on the forum.

Copyeditor new to LaTeX
Hi and welcome,
LaTeX isn't very difficult if you have some basic knoledge and know how it is working. I like to recommend LaTeX for complete novices to beginners. It is a good resource, and it is free.

The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.
