Miktex on read only network share.

Post by 321Kami »

Hi All,
I'm trying to run xelatex from read only samba share and despite the manual saying it's possible I can't do that:

Z:\miktex\texmfs\install\miktex\bin>xelatex
Sorry, but xelatex did not succeed.

Z:\miktex\texmfs\install\miktex\bin>xetex
Sorry, but xetex did not succeed.

I'm pretty sure that it's because config and installation directories are set to this read only location. Is there any way to fix that? I don't want to copy whole MikTex to virtual machine every time I want to create a documentation pdf.

Regards

Miktex on read only network share.

Hi,

welcome to the forum!

I would use TeX Live either locally or via a network share, since it's cross-platform and runs fine on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. TeX Live 2016 has been released recently.
