Margin notes? or else?

Post by odhage »

I want to write a journal over my actions whith date and keyword in the left margin/column and the main text to the right. I have tried using longtable. It is good in many ways, but have the disadvantage of leaving a lot white space when content of a cell is to big to fit on current page (the whole cell is moved to next page).

I want text in the margin/left column o be left justified and ragged. I want it in the line with the first line of the paragraph it "belongs" to (in the main text).

On top of these columns (or text and margin) I want a head that runs over all pages (after it had begun - I have a top matter before).

What is a good solution for this? Two column text? Margin notes? Else?

Merry Christmas
Mikael

It would be helpful to have a visual representation of what you want your stuff to look like.

It sounds like you want to have a simple list, but i am not sure. The same goes for the header you describe.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

OK, I made a sketch and scanned, sorry for the (bad) quality.
