Hi guys,
OK before you read this please be patient. In October last year I bought my first Mac and installed TeXShop so am new to both.
I upgraded my MacBook Pro to El Capitan last week and needless to say TeXShop did not work because on this operating system, writing to /usr is no longer allowed. The application loaded up but would not typeset.
I have installed the latest version of MacTeX but his did not create the /Library/TeX folder on my computer. Needless to say, when I go to try and typeset i get this error message (part of a longer message):
"/Library/TeX/textbin/pdflatex does not exist. TeXShop is a front end for TeX, but you also need a TeX distribution."
I have tried using there terminal commands under section 8 of the document "MacTex 2015 and El Capitan" by Herb Schultz but that doesn't seem to help.
Please help as I am certain just deleting everything and beginning again will not get me any further.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Will
As is probably apparent, I have no idea what I am doing so am open to suggestions.
