Download LaTeX on Apple Macbook

Post by esong_98 »

I've gone to several Latex sites to download an editor on a MacBook Air laptop that uses the OS system. However, once the download is complete, I'm never able to open up the program to start a new document or edit an old one. Sometimes I get a message that the program is incompatable with an OS system, even though I'm at an Apple Latex website. Any suggestions? Anyone can give me a recipe how to down load Latex on a mac? What is the best editor to use on a mac?

MacTeX is definitely the best choice for the Macbook. Click the link for download and instructions.

On Mac computers, TeXshop is a popular LaTeX editor. MacTeX provides it. I'm using MacTeX with TeXworks as editor, this one is also contained in MacTeX.

The cheapest, most stable, most popular option is to install MacTeX. It is downloadable as an all-in-one package file (.pkg); just double-click and you're good to go.

MacTeX comes with a few editors, namely TUG's TeXworks and the acclaimed TeXShop, but you can also get TeXstudio for Mac as well.

You will find that, as OS X is a UNIX-based environment, working with TeXnology may prove to be a little simpler than doing so under Windows.

Good advice, i removed the link to the writing service, though. It looked like advertizing, and we don't like ads ;-)
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.
