Hi
I installed the regular version of MikTeX 2.5 (not the full), but sometimes use packages that are not included in this installation. How can I configure TeXnicCenter to automatically install the package from a local repository? I have the entire MikTeX installation folder saved on an external hard drive that is only sometimes connected to my laptop.
Thanks in advance
Ciao

Re: Auto-installing new packages
Hi Frank!
Sorry, but this is not a TexnicCenter issue...
...but You you can switch this option in the MiKTeX
installation:
Programs => MiKTeX => MiKTeX Settings => General
Hope this helps!
Greetings
Kris

Re: Auto-installing new packages
Hi Kris
I see you are right about this being in the wrong thread, I appologise. When I try follow your instructions, I keep getting an error informing me that there is "No local package repository configured".
When I enter the MiKTeX Package Manager I can see the package I am trying to get and when I try install it, I get the same error again.
When I then try to change the package repository, same issue. I have decided to reinstall, that may end up saving me time.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Frank

Auto-installing new packages
Hi Frank,
okay - now I see the whole picture
There is a possibility to change the Package repository type (internet, local folder or CD/DVD)
in the MiKTeX-settings (unfortunately this is not working in the package manager):
Programs => MiKTex => Settings => Packages => Package repository (change)
Here You can adjust the path to Your local directory...then automatic package installation should work again!
Greetings again
Kris

Re: Auto-installing new packages
Hey Kris
Ah, I wish I had figured that out before I reinstalled MiKTeX
I just lost patience in the end. Now I know what to do the next time round, because it is bound to happen again if I do not always keep my external hard drive attached while working in LaTeX.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated...
