I've read that you shouldn't add the extension for an image in 'includegraphics' statements (like .png, .jpg et cetera).
Is it possible to remove this when adding an image via the 'Insert figure' dialog?
Maybe via an option in the dialog ('include file name extension' or so) which is unchecked by default?

Re: Remove extension for images
I guess removing these four characters is not really a hard task to do.

True, but I forget to do that many times....and if I have a lot of pictures it's still a lot of work to do manually.....using the same argument: it's also not a lot of work to add the extension manually
