Fatal format file error; I'm stymied

Post by AnnaWelz »

Hey,

updated from Texnic Center 1 to Texnic Center 2

So now I am using MiKTeX 2.9 in the 64-bit version, together with TexNic Center 2 and Sumatra pdf.
pdfTeX is Version 4.1215926-2.4-1.40.13

I made sure the settings for Sumatra pdf are correct.

Trying to compile my file returns the error
pdflatex> Fatal format file error; I'm stymied

I used the clean project function within the Texnic Center, but this did not help.

This is followed by BibTex and MakeIndex errors.
Could not open Filename.aux file and Filename.idx not found.

Not sure, but can not cross check right now, the same MikTex and Texnic Center distributions are running well and compiling the file on another computer. It was also runnign fine with Texnic Center 1 before.
Reinstalling Texnic Center 1, did not solve the problem.

Thanks.
Anna

Fatal format file error; I'm stymied

Hi Anna,

welcome to the board!

I guess you need to rebuild the format files. Either make an update in the MikTeX options windows, which is available via the Windows start menu, or choose the Formats tab in the MikTeX options window, choose a profile and click on Build. An older screenshot of this (I don't use MikTeX any more), which I posted to my blog because of a babel problem:

Perhaps have a look at the link too.
