I recently installed TeXNicCenter on a Windows XP machine. I find that TeXNicCenter crashes when I attempt to use the "open with" right-click menu.
I have followed a number of advice found on various threads on the topic to no avail. To sum up, I uninstalled TeXNicCenter, I removed the file associations in the Tools/Folder Options menu, deleting the registry entries for all .tex documents, reinstalled, re-associated, several times, with no success.
I currently have to load TeXNicCenter first before I can open my .tex documents from "within".
Oddly enough my interest in TeXNicCenter arose after I updated my MiKTeX install and found that I could no longer right-click-open-with bibtex.exe. Now, I can still right-click-open-with pdflatex.exe, latex.exe, ps2pdf.exe and a few others, but cannot right-click-open-with bibtex.exe. As I didn't know how to create a makefile to mimick right-click-open-with various things, I decided to install TeXNicCenter.
Little did I know that my problems were only beginning..
Can anyone post the code for a makefile that mimicks the compiling procedures called by TeXNicCenter for LaTeX=>PDF and LaTeX=>PS=>PDF ?
Or point to a robust solution to the "Open With" TeXNicCenter ?
many thanks,
Pat.
