The current editor font window allows only monospace, fixed-width fonts.
I do not know the exact reason, but guess this depends on the line break calculations.
How much programming effort would it be, to additionally allow variable-width fonts like Arial etc.?
I have the problem that my monospace fonts become extremely ugly in large sizes.
Variable-width fonts would solve this problem.
Or do you have any suggestions for fixed-width fonts that are well readable with a size of 14?

Sebastian

Allow the user to specify variable-width editor fonts
@Sebastian: The whole editor component has been coded around the assumption, that only fixed-width fonts will be used, so changing this would require to recode most parts of the editor or to change to another editor component like Scintilla, what would also provide other advantages.
But in both cases the effort would be enormous. If someone is interested in porting TeXnicCenter to Scintilla, please contact me!
Until something is changed here, we will have to live with fixed width fonts... I find the Bitstream Vera Sans Mono very readable, but naturally a fixed-width font will never achieve the readability of a variable-width font...

Download http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/ ... a-1.10.zip , unzip, install like other normal ttf fonts, and select it in texniccenter.
