help with installation

Post by swong2 »

Hey

I installed MikTex2.6. After that I installed TeXnicCenter. The configuration wizard of TeXnicCenter gave errors. The application 'LaTeX' has not been found in the directory of your TeX-distribution. Could someone help me out?

help with installation

Hi Stanley,

welcome to the board!
The latest MiKTeX version is 2.7, perhaps you want to install this instead. Have a look here: TeXnicCenter configuration video This is a video about configuring TeXnicCenter with MiKTeX on youtube. Using version 2.5, but it shows the way.
If you still have questions, feel free to ask.

Assuming that you are using Windows XP, just download the TeXnicCenter Setup Version 1 Beta 7.50 and start it. Make sure that you have installed MiKTeX 2.7 and Ghostscript 8.62 (perhaps together with GSview) before installing TeXnicCenter to get all build profiles generated. The Adobe Reader (or another PDF viewer) is needed to view PDF files.

Best regards and welcome to the board

I confirm that it can be done this way on Vista too, I did it exactly this way, installed MiKTeX 2.7 and downloaded and started TeXnicCenter Setup Version 1 Beta 7.50 afterwards. No problem with Vista, beside that in general I prefer to use Linux, especially for work with LaTeX.
