Beamerposter with Helvetica math

Post by elmariachi »

Hey there!

I'm making my first beamerposter and I'm having some trouble. A sample document and the used theme (Icy) are attached.

I'm butchering both from the http://www-i6.informatik.rwth-aachen.de ... poster.php website.

Issues I'm facing:

I need to use the "beta" character throughout the poster to define and I need it to be in Helvetica non-italic like everything else. I can't seem to change it...

The footnote, which is defined in the .sty, has some characters with accents that aren't being drawn. Why?

The three blocks are just placeholders, the final poster will have more.

Please ask for any info I may give you ;)

Beamerposter with Helvetica math

Are you restricted to Helvetica or would a similar font also do? Or another sans serif font in general? The arev font seems very encouraging. But there are some more alternatives [1].

I'm not restricted to helvetica, I love the font, that's all. Using arev as an alternative is okay by me, but a simple \usepackage{arev} still gives me an italic \beta, even with \mathsf.

This is funny because some time ago i wrestled to make a \beta italic using \usepackage[upright]{fourier} font inside an italic env. I gave up that time.
