Hello,
I am new to WinEdt, and was recommended by a friend who has Windows 7. I tried installing MikTex 2.8 and keeping my .tex files in the directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.8\tex\latex
I think downloaded WinEdt 6.0 and saved that in the directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\WinEdt Team\WinEdt 6
I made a dummy test file called testtest.tex and saved that in the MikTex directory shown above. I keep getting errors saying that WinEdt can't find the file, something along the lines of:
Command Line: pdflatex.exe --synctex=-1 "testtest.tex"
Startup Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.8\tex\latex
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (MiKTeX 2.8)
entering extended mode
! I can't find file `testtest.tex'.
<*> testtest.tex
Please type another input file name:
Process has been terminated ...

I apologize, I used to run TexnicCenter on windows xp, and heard WinEdt was an easy interface to use. I am hoping for some clarification on how to make WinEdt and MikTex 2.8 to communicate in the 64 bit system. I did try to download and place both into the regular Program Files directory but that doesn't work either. Thank you in advance for your time I appreciate it.
Stephen
