Problems updating packages

Post by danielvelizv »

Hello people! I have a lot of problems to update the packages of the distribution of LaTeX I'm using, I'm using TeXmaker and I'm trying to update tha packages through Miktex 2.9 using the Package Manager but barely starts the process, it stops with an error and finishes with no downloads or installing. Any solution? Do I have to use another distribution to use all available packages? Regards!

Hi Daniel,

so you get an error message. Maybe you consider it as a challenge for us to guess what the error is, without telling us that error message? ;-)

Sorry Stefan. I spoke about a problem of updating packages but I didn't publish the error as you can see, that was my mistake, sorry for that. I have to format my windows PC (for another problem) and yesterday I full installed with miktex all packages. Due to my slow connection, the process took so long (around 7 hours). Is there any option to download a full complete version to install it without connection? A DVD ISO or an exe with all packages? Regards :?:

I don't know for MikTeX to be honest, but there is definetely one for TeX Live. Personally, i would recommend TeX Live, many would. And i know Stefan does too ;-)
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Tex Live is for Linux but I have the same problem due to my slow connection, I would like to full install LaTeX (on both operating systems) on offline computers to avoid for waiting 7 or 8 hours downloading files :(

Hi Daniel,

a MikTeX ISO is not available.

However, a TeX Live 2016 ISO is available. And it it is also for Windows and runs fine there. Being cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) is just another benefit.
