High Index numbers are running into the title

Post by marek_step »

Hello all!

I have a little problem with my index numbers. The high numbers are running into the titles like follows (examples of the figures list):

Beginning:

1.1. Kaolin ......................................... 23
1.2. Plagioclase feldspar ................................. 24

Ending:

13.85.ShakunagaYukioPortrait .............................. 304
13.86.Shakunaga Yukio: Large Jar (No. 1), 2013, stoneware, h. 13 x dia. 15 1/4 in. (34x39cm) ..................................... 304

And in the pdf file the last points of high numbers are under the first letter and even not separated like here in this example with copy and paste.

Could somebody give me a hint? Is this a common problem? The document class I am using is:

Code: Select all

\documentclass[twoside=false,BCOR=12mm,DIV=calc,headsepline=yes,draft=false]{scrreprt}
Best greetings

marek

High Index numbers are running into the title

Hi Marek, you need to prepare a minimal working example so we can reproduce the problem and test possible solutions. Please follow the link to get further hints.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Thank Johannes_B for your reply. I thought this is probably a known issue and I don't need a minimal example. So I made up an example; unfortunately it is a longer than expected for a "minimal" example. Sorry! At the end of the TOC you see the numbers of the chapters running into the titles like:

0.11.11.Under Chapter 11

Code: Select all

\documentclass[]{scrreprt}

\usepackage[ngerman,english]{babel}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{CJKutf8}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}

\usepackage{makeidx}
\makeindex

High Index numbers are running into the title

Post by Johannes_B »

I thought you were talking about an index done with makeindex.

What you described is indeed common, and we had this a few days ago.

To sum it up, use package tocstyle.

Btw: You are loading package cjkutf8, do you know why? If not, comment it out.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Thank you Johannes_B for the hint.

This package seems to be highly experimental, issuing a warning like:
Package tocstyle Warning: THIS IS AN ALPHA VERSION!
(tocstyle) USAGE OF THIS VERSION IS ON YOUR OWN RISK!
(tocstyle) EVERYTHING MAY HAPPEN!
(tocstyle) EVERYTHING MAY CHANGE IN FUTURE!
(tocstyle) THERE IS NO SUPPORT, IF YOU USE THIS PACKAGE!
(tocstyle) Maybe it would be better, not to load this package.
And the manual is one of those, which are eating up your lifetime with some hints only for the LaTeX gurus, not mentioning one concrete example, how to implement these styles in your document. For those, who are reading this thread:

Adding this line in your preamble, seems to solve the problem:

Code: Select all

\usepackage[toctextentriesindented]{tocstyle}
But be careful: everything may happen :-) And an advice: run the pdflatex command three times!
