Word Wrap Display not working

Post by nimbonaut »

Hi,

I'm using TeXnicCenter 2.02 on a Windows 8 machine.

I've set the width for word wrapping at 80 and and activated it in the "View" menu. However as I type, the text keeps going past the 80th column, up to the end of the screen. I could not find any help for this online.

Any idea of what the issue could be?
Thanks in advance.

I had to reinstall version 1.0 to have word wrap working correctly.

I do not recommend to use TXC 1.0 anymore. It is more than 10 years old.
The maintainer of Texniccenter is sometimes reading here. If you are in a hurry, maybe the TEXnicCenter Support can help.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

I understand from the support team that soft wrap, while present in version 1, has been removed in version 2.
I think it was a very useful feature and it is hard to understand why it was decided to remove it.
Can anybody suggest a different latex distribution that preserves this feature?

Thanks

There are many good (and free) LaTeX editors available.

With your installed distribution comes TeXworks, which is really just an editor, nothing fancy.
If you want more of a fancy editor, have a look at texmaker or texstudio.

But there are many more: Comparison of TeX editors
