MiKTeX and proTeXt ⇒ Fatal Format File Error

I am new to LaTeX and this forum, and I really hope that some one will have an answer to my problem.

I did an update to my LaTeX packages two days ago, then tried to continue writing my notes using LaTeX. I needed XeLaTeX for beamer, and this is why I did the update (MiKTeX 2.9, TeXnicCenter 2.0 beta 1, Sumatra PDF). And here came the surprise.

latex> (Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

I've tried many suggested solutions

But nothing worked.

Any ideas?

PS: I use Windows 7 as an OS.
