Sumatra PDF Releases

Post by localghost »

A few days ago, on 3 May, the first update this year with the minor release 2.1 has been rolled out by the Sumatra development team. This reader becomes more and more a universal viewer for a variety of file formats. For users of LaTeX its feature for viewing PDF documents along with its capabilities regarding SyncTeX for forward and inverse search remains the strongest argument to use it. The changelog lists the following features.
  • Support for EPUB ebook format
  • Added File/Rename menu item to rename currently viewed file
  • Support multi-page TIFF files
  • Support TGA images
  • Support for some comic book (CBZ) metadata
  • Support JPEG XR images (available on Windows Vista or later, for Windows XP the Windows Imaging Component has to be installed)
  • The installer is now signed

Sumatra PDF Releases

Post by localghost »

After a small bug fix (version 2.1.1) Sumatra PDF made the next step with version 2.2 on December 24, the last update of 2012. Among many robustness fixes and small improvements there are some interesting changes.
  • add support for FictionBook ebook format.
  • add support for PDF documents encrypted with Acrobat X.
  • “Print as image” compatibility option in print dialog for documents that fail to print properly.
The full change log is available on the project page.
