DVIout freezes (TeX Live 2011)

Post by berlen »

Yesterday I decided to install TeX Live 2011... but when I compile my latex documents in DVI, the DVI viewer (DVIout) hangs, and I have to force the exit of the program. The DVI file is successfully created, but the viewer stucks saying
gswin32.exe is making tmpps1.pbm
This is so strange! I need to compile in DVI, because I often use PSTricks in my documents. Thank you in advance

PS: I found this http://tug.org/pipermail/tex-live/2010- ... 24251.html, but I'm not able to find dviout.bat

DVIout freezes (TeX Live 2011)

DVI is only an intermediate format not supposed for viewing. Furthermore most DVI viewers are not able to display postscript (created by PSTricks) correctly. Compile your document further to PS (and perhaps PDF) to view a proper output.

Just for information to other users for awareness of possibly already existing solutions. The question has also been posted to {TeX} SX.
