Hallo,
I'm an absolute Latex beginner and just wanted to create my first pdf-file. The creation of the file is no problem but when I want to open the file, an error appears -> Adobe Reader X opens, TeXnicCenter is calculating some time (even the output is just "Hello World") and then an the error "Command was not successfull" (or sth similar).
How can I solve this problem? Is there something wrong in my configuration?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
Jan

Hi Jan,
welcome to the board!
Perhaps post your configuration here, such as your output profile. But you could also try a different PDF viewer.
Both Windows TeX distributions, TeX Live and MiKTeX, install the TeXworks editor. You could try that one.

TxC and TexWorks are both editors, you use one OR the other.I'm using MiKTeX how can I configure TexnicCenter to use the TeXworks editor?
Re: Error while opening a created pdf-file
I configurated TexnicCenter now with PDF-Xchange Viewer and it works fine now.
Re: Error while opening a created pdf-file
I have been using TxC for many years. I have never before had any problem with TxC opening the compiled .pdf in Adobe Reader automatically at the end of compilation when using the LaTeX => PDF setting. Now I have upgraded my OS to Windows 7 and installed the latest version of TxC. I am getting the exact same problem described in this post. The Wizard seems to have set up my output profile correctly; it looks exactly like the output profile shown by jan026 (but in English). But when I press the "Build and View Current File" button and the compiler runs without error, the Adobe Reader opens (without displaying my document) and, after about 10 seconds, I get an error box saying:
[DocOpen("%bm.pdf")][FileOpen("%bm.pdf")] Cannot execute the command.
Similarly when I press the "View Ouput" button.
I do not want to install a different program for reading .pdf files. TxC has always worked fine with Adobe Reader before, and it should continue to do so, since this is the most popular reader of .pdf files. And I don't want to switch to another editor, as I really like TxC. I see there is another recent thread in addition to this one in which someone else is having this problem, so it seems to be a general problem due to a bug in the latest version of TxC. How can we get this problem fixed? Can we notify the programmers about this bug and get them to verify it and repair it?

I also have the same problem, has anyone found a solution?mcassey wrote:When I press the "Build and View Current File" button and the compiler runs without error, the Adobe Reader opens (without displaying my document) and, after about 10 seconds, I get an error box saying:

I also met this problem. After I compiled the document, I cannot build and view it by Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.0. I searched google for answers but none of them did work because all are telling you to make DDE command [DocOpen("%bm.pdf")][FileOpen("%bm.pdf")] or change server's name to acroviewR10.
My friend also uses Texniccenter but with Foxit PDF and there is no problem when using LaTeX=>PDF. So I imitate the configuration in his Texniccenter. Finally, it works. And it is much simpler than changing DDE command or something else. Particularly, both in 'View project's output' and 'Forward search', choose 'Command line argument' and the command is ["%bm.pdf"] (without square brackets). In 'Close document before running (La)TeX', choose 'Do not close'. Others remain unchanged.
The configuration image is posted. My system is Win 7 32-bit; version of Texniccenter
is 2.0 Alpha 4 32-bit; MikTex is 2.9 32-bit; PDF viwer is Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.0. Hope it would help you.
