Installation Problem with Basic MiKTeX 2.9.4250 Installer

Post by bji829 »

I've read through the Board and didn't see any post related to my problem. I am attempting to install MikTex 2.9 using Basic MikTeX 2.9.4250 Installer (32-bit) on a computer running Windows XP. Towards the end of the installation process, I receive the following error message:
"The operation could not be completed for the following reason:
The operation failed for some reason.
Details: C:\Program Files\MikTeX 2.9\miktex/bin\initexmf.exe"
Obviously, there is an error in the command line where a forward vs. reverse slash is used. I'm not sure how to correct for this error; can anyone suggest. I do have pdflatex.exe and bibtex.exe apparently installed properly, so I think all should work out for the time being. Thanks for any suggestions.

Default Directory for saving Files

Post by HelenU »

Hello ay222,

someone wants New Folder, another one wants picture set, the next one does not want any default folder name at all, and another one wants the last folder used, etc. This is why it should be optional.

Entry in wincmd.ini could look like this:
LastUsedDirectoryName=name_of_last_used_directory
DefaultDirectoryName=name_of_default_directory
DefaultDirectoryNameEnabled=1 or 0, or 2
0= there will be no new directory name used
1= new directory name will be last used directory name
2= new directory name will be default directory name

Best regards
Pete
