upgrade to texlive

Post by Stefan Kottwitz »

Hi sherlock,

I would let it remove the tetex packages, because texlive should do their job. But Kile is another point. When I went to texlive on feisty I updated Kile too. I got it from here: ftp.debian.org, downloaded and installed it by

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i kile_2.0.1~rc1-1_i386.deb
I confirmed the shown dependencies and it worked.

But now as I write I remembered that I made an upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04beta last time when I installed Kile this way, Kile 2.0 may require newer KDE packages (7.10 at least, when not 8.04). I would consider upgrade the distribution at least to gutsy, I remember vaguely texlive should be default on gutsy. An upgrade from feisty to gutsy should work fine usually.
