Problems installing svjour3.cls

Post by mrbohn1 »

Hi,

I am trying to write a paper in the format required by Springer journals. I downloaded the appropriate package from here:

http://www.springer.com/cda/content/doc ... 5-468198-0

and have pasted svjour3.cls into MiKTeX 2.8\tex\latex\base. I have also refreshed the MiKTeX filename database by clicking "Refresh FNDB" in the MiKTeX settings.

However, I am still getting the message: "LaTeX error: File 'svjour3.cls' not found" when I try to create a pdf file.

Can anyone please help? I have run out of ideas!

Problems installing svjour3.cls

I'm not sure whether or not it's the cause of your problems, but it is not a good idea to add things to MikTeX's base directory. Instead, follow the instructions in the MikTeX documentation for integrating local additions and place the files in the appropriate places in there. (The link has the details.)

Thanks for the reply. I worked it out in the end...for some reason there are two types of "settings" in MiKTex. In case anyone else has the same problem: you need to refresh FNDB in the "admin settings" rather than regular settings after installation.

If the problem is solved with that, please be so kind and mark the topic (not the last post) accordingly as clearly written in the Board Rules (to be read before posting). Otherwise please tell us what is missing. Please keep that in mind for the future so that further reminders will not be necessary.
