Fonts in Windows 7 for Illustrator

Post by jaybz »

I created a PDF from latex, when I import it into Illustrator CS2 I get a message telling me that there are missing fonts so parts such as the math symbols "integrals ect." are missing. But I checked and several are already installed in C:\Windows\Fonts. I installed a trial of Illustrator CS5 and this works. How can I get this to work with CS2? Do I need the type 1 fonts and the .pfm files to go with them? Where are they located?

This is strange. How did you create these PDFs? With pdflatex directly, or via some more indirect route such as latex > dvips > ps2pdf? PDFLaTeX usually embeds all fonts, or at least the characters you use.

What are you trying to do inside Illustrator?

I have MiKTex 2.9 full installed, I used Texmaker and did: Latex->PDFLatex
I am looking to do some formatting in Illustrator that's just too difficult and time consuming to do with Latex.

I have the same problem with Illustrator in CS 2. I can not work with the fonts in Acrobat 9 either.

I have tried placing a copy of the fonts in the Illustrator path as well and still nothing. I have them in:
C:\Windows\Fonts
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS2\Fonts

This is EXTREMELY frustrating.

You have bought a very expensive commercial product from Adobe. Presumably you get tech support with it. Why not ask Adobe?

It's quite old; "CS2" The current version is CS5 and I would have to pay "per incident" for support.
