MakeIndex, Nomenclature, Glossaries and Acronyms ⇒ adding section numbers to an index entry

I have a document of around 100 pages that I've indexed. One internal reviewer has asked me to add section numbers to the index.

My knowledge of latex/makeindex etc has gotten me to the point where I can get the index printed and can pdf to be clickable, However getting section numbers added is past my limited understanding.

Any suggestions on how to add section information?
foo p25(section 2.3)

I tried to search for this but must have missed finding the answer

I'm also got sure this is a good idea, is this a style anyone have ever seen used?
