Until yesterday, when I ran PDFtexify in Winedt (v.5.4), Acrobat Reader 8.0 would be launched.
today, for no apparent reason Acrobat (v.5.0) itself is launched. I only need Reader, and Acrobat takes a long time to load up. Any suggestions on how I can switch back?
Thank you!

adobe acrobat instead of reader
Hi mwills,
check the settings in menu: Options/ Execution Modes, 4th tab "Adobe Reader", the filename in PDF viewer executable.

Stefan,
Thanks for your response. I don't think that I quite understood your reply. In Option-Execution Modes there is no tab that says ``Adobe Reader", nor do I see anything like PDF viewer executable. Do you think that you could elaborate?

adobe acrobat instead of reader
Hi Mike,
I run a WinEdt 5.5 installation. But its on my old windows computer, now I am using KILE with Ubuntu Linux.
So its possible that there is a difference in configuration.
When I open the dialog Execution Modes, I can switch to the tab "Adobe Reader", the button for this is on top of the Execution Modes window, in the middle.

Re: adobe acrobat instead of reader
There don't seem to be any tabs for this in WinEdt.
Thanks
Mike

Re: adobe acrobat instead of reader
I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader. That seems to have worked. I have no idea why.

Re: adobe acrobat instead of reader
Fine. Maybe WinEdt v5.4 just relies on the default file association for pdf files, and the re-installation overrode it again. Could have been possible too just to correct that association in the list of registered file types on Windows. But the reinstallation of the reader is a solid solution and no big deal.
