A user reports a reproducible problem saving files in TeXnicCenter to a Samba share. The saves are very slow, much slower than local saves and much slower than saves to a native NTFS fileshare.
The user has the latest version of TeXnicCenter and has reported this error on several machines, all running fully patched XP.
The version on samba is 3.0.14a. We are reluctant to upgrade this at the moment, particularly if it will not solve our problem with TeXnicCenter.
Has anyone any insight into this problem? Would you concur that it is a samba interaction problem? Is there anything we can tweak to improve the times to save?
