I just tried to install version 1 beta 7.01 TeXnicCenter on my Windows XP Professional, as the administrator, and got the error, "Internal error: Failed to expend shell folder constant "userdocs"." The installation process seemed to complete, but a menu for the application never showed up. A folder for TexnicCenter and a subfolder for Help were all that were added.
Anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks.

That's strange! The installer works with some variables referencing special locations of a windows system -- this is how most of the installers are working including Inno Setup used as the TeXnicCenter installer. The "userdocs" variable references the "my documents" directory. The error message seems to say, that the installer is not able to find the location of this directory for the current user and so is not able to expand the variable to the path of this directory.
Maybe you should google for the problem in conjunction with Inno Setup, because this may be no TeXnicCenter specific problem, but a more generic one related to the installer which is used by many other software vendors too.

Sven, thanks for the hint. This is on my system at work, where 'userdocs' probably points to my networked drive. I'll follow this up when I get a chance. Thanks, again.
