How can I compile project from \include file?

Post by pet1202 »

According to the TXC homepage it is possible to compile projects from any file in the project:
If you are now working on a chapter file and you would like to generate output, you will only have to choose the 'Build' command and TeXnicCenter will start the compilation for the main file -- even if it isn't opened in the editor at the moment.

I cant seem to get this to work. My project compiles fine from the main file, but from a chapter file it behaves as if it was not a part of the project.

I appreciate if anyone can help me out, because I constamtly forget to switch back to the main file before I compile...

Under the Project menu item select Properties.

Make sure that the entry in the Main slot is your master file.

You should then be able to compile the whole file by selecting the 'Build Output (F7)' icon, rather than the 'Build Current File (Ctrl +F7)' icon.
