help for annoying behaviour of Texshop new release's preview
Hi all.
I updated to Texlive 2008, which includes Texshop 2.18.
But there is an annoying behaviour which differs from the previous version of Texshop.
When I compile and the pdf/preview is updated, instead of staying where it was the preview jumps to the top of the page, making necessary to seek the point that has just been changed if that was, e.g., at the bottom of the page.
The previous version simply stayed where the preview was before the change.
I'm sure you all know how annoying this is when you work all day on latex.
I tried with the preferences, but without success.
any help on that?
thanks
m

Did you ever find a solution to this?
I joined this forum specifically to find out if there was a solution, because, like you, I found the new behaviour very irritating, and I wanted to know if it was a peculiarity of my computer of if others had had the same experience. For the moment I have "solved" the problem by downgrading to version 2.14, but that's hardly ideal.

same problem here, as in the previous posting.
I thought it's about TexLive2008 in Tiger (cuz in Leopard I don't see the problem); but it was about new TexShop???
I might think of downgrading TexShop then... how can I do that? Is there anywhere I can download lower version? Thanx.

Did you all try looking at Preferences in TexShop 2.18.
1. Go to Texshop -> Preferences
2. Preview Tab
3. In preview window position choose "Remember last position on close"
That might solve the problem.

no it doesn't. I tried almost every possible way, only to fail (as I wrote in my thread).

help for annoying behaviour of Texshop new release's preview
I thought that perhaps you had tried that...but was not sure. Anyhow, have you tried asking your question on the following forum:
http://www.apfelwiki.de/forum/viewforum.php?f=6
People there know a lot about Texshop. Perhaps there is no solution, but you can try asking there.

Thanks guys. At the moment it seems that downgrading is the only solution. But I can't find a download link for 2.14 version anywhere; can anybody help me find it?
Re: help for annoying behaviour of Texshop new release's preview
Hi everybody,
some months ago I have experienced the same problem (which, by the way, persists also in the newer version TeXShop 2.26). I posted about this on the forum http://www.apfelwiki.de; I also wrote a bug report on http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_i ... tid=797238, but received no definitive solution.
However there is a partial workaround: just set the Preview layout to "Single Page" instead of "Multi-page" (changing "Default page style" in Preferences/Preview). This fixes the problem, if one is willing to use the single page layout.
Otherwise, one can downgrade to TeXShop 2.14: I still have a copy of this and make it available for download at http://www.math.unipd.it/~fcaraven/TeXShop2.14.app.zip.
