Extended Syntax highlighting

Post by Schreiberling »

Hello,

I use TeXnicCenter for some years and really do like it.
What I miss are better features for syntax highlighting.

Open/closed braces and the major LaTeX-commands or keywords are colored, that's a big help.
What I would like to do is to highlight the text *between* braces, e.g. package names or parameters.
\documentclass[A4,12pt]{report}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
\begin{figure}[!hbt]

Some editors like WinEdt http://www.winedt.com/do have it, and in my opinion TeX source documents get a lot easier to view and control.
With the current highlighting features at "Customize Text format" I wasn't able to do it. So --if I wasn't to blind to find it-- it would be great to enhance the capabilities of TeXnicCenter in that point.

Thank you!

P.S. Can the keywords themselves be edited in any way, i.e. which keywords are highlighted and how? (What I mean: In WinEdt or TeXMaker, preamble-keywords like \documentclass or \usepackage get another color than in-text-keywords like \begin.)

Extended Syntax highlighting

I can only support this request!

WinEdt does a much better job at syntax highlighting, while otherwise both programs are basically equal. This would greatly improve the readability of LateX sources.

"extras"->"textformat"

I think this would also be a very welcome feature!!! The only things missing from Texniccenter imho are
1) an extended syntax highlighting in WinEdt style, by using both different colors and different text formatting (as said above by Gargleblaster, I think that WinEdt really does a wonderful job about that)
2) Code folding (like for instance in LEd)

I strongly hope this suggestions are going to be taken into account into TexnicCenter 2.0. Many thanks!!!

I'll go a bit further with this request, I also think that Texniccenter should recognize the .asy file format for the asymptote vector graphics language. Texniccenter nowadays can already be configured easysily for asymptote compilation. It would be really a nice feature if it would do the syntax highlighting automatically and when Installing already notices that asymptote is installed...

Cheers Mates!

I second these sentiments.
