I have written a document with bibtex references and using a downloaded style file. When I latex the file to produce a dvi the references are exactly as I want them (namely they do not include the field note from the bibtex file). However when I compile the document as a pdf, the note field is included. I have gone back into the .bst file and removed all lines that deal with the note field as well as the note function, however I still get the notes from the bibtex file in my list of references. I don't want to go through and remove all the note fields from the bibtex file as it is extremely large.
Any ideas??

Re: Reference list differs in DVI vs PDF format
please post a minimal example, we do not know what you are doing and thus it is a bit difficult to help.
Also, how do you produce the PDF? (I know at least three methods and the method might have something to say here), so please post more information

Re: Reference list differs in DVI vs PDF format
How strange - I just rebuilt the documents and the note field is now left out (when using the style file where I have removed all of the note fields). The behaviour is now common to DVI or PDF's so at least both methods are consistent.
Sorry for wasting your time - I don't know why it has just started to work. Thanks for trying to help me.
