Error: cls file not found

Post by mariuste »

Hello

I am completely new to LaTex so bare with me. I want to make use of a template for my master thesis. I downloaded the necessary package and placed it in the texmf path on my Mac. When hitting typeset in TexShop I get the following errror: File 'ifimaster.cls' not found. Please see the file attached. Also, how do I update the package list in Tex Live utility? My newly added packages doesn't appear in the list.

I think it has something to do with the /usr/textbin is missing. No tex distribution in system preferences pane. When opening Tex Live utility, I get prompted to update. But my OS is not compatible with latest version.

I downloaded Mactex 2016 from here: http://tug.org/mactex/faq/3-4.html

As I am working on Mavericks OS.

Just copy the template to your desired folder; so that cls and the main tex file are in the same directory.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

I have done that now, but when typeset, it doesn't create. I only get the console output.

How does the console output end? What is at the bottom?

What do you suggest in line 2 instead? It looks exactly like in the template I am using.

Please post code as text that we can copy and compile, not as a screenshot.

Edit: i just looked around and found the template on github. I advise not to use it at all.
