Package not found
The amstext package is part of amsmath . There has been a packaging failure which has been fixed with the current version. So, make an update of your MiKTeX system and it should work again [1].

Re: Multiple windows pop up when compiling PDFs
The problem isn't just with Adobe Acrobot. I am using Foxit reader, a lightweight pdf viewer for windows. When I try to update pdf I get:
! I can't write on file `XXX.pdf'.
Please type another file name for output
! Emergency stop.

Edit headers in memoir class
I'm using memoir class and trying to edit the headers and footers. I want to do two things. I can live without 2), as I can do it manually. However, 1) is necessary.
1) I'm happy with 'ruled' except I want \leftmark to be 'part' and \rightmark to be 'chapter'. First I tried using 'myheadings' in ...

Customize paragraph environments
1. Try \itshape instead of \emph command for italic quotes/quotations.
2. Generally, you may change subsections' font using memoir's \setSheadstyle command, where S is a sectioning unit (e.g. sec for section, subsec for subsection etc.) E.g.:
\setsubsecheadstyle{\itshape}
However, this will ...

Customize paragraph environments
I expect this question has been asked before but I really haven't been able to find an answer.
From a lyx FAQ it says to make all quotes/quotations small, add the following to preamble:
\let\oldquote\quote
\renewcommand\quote{\small\oldquote}
\let\oldquotation\quotation

Installing xeCJK macro
Hi,
I've just discovered xetex and it looks like the solution to my need for both English and Thai in the same document. I wasn't satisfied with having to change the encoding of the whole document to Thai, which was my solution before. This upset the type-setting of the Western characters.
