Defining New TikZ/pgf Shape Library

I would like to start writing a new shape library, similar to the one for laying out circuits (circuitikz), for laying out optical setups (laser table, mirrors, lenses, detectors etc.) I'm not having a lot of luck finding documentation of that part of the TikZ/pgf command set. I just started ...

How to use revtex with Texniccenter

To follow up what localghost said, I just finished writing a JCP paper with revtex. Start your document with:

\documentclass{revtex4-1}

Everything you need is at http://authors.aps.org/revtex4/

Separate window focus for child windows

I've got a dual screen setup and have been running TXC 2.0 Alpha 1 (build 1012). I have my TXC window open one one screen and my PDF viewer on the second. In order to maximize my writing space, I've undocked the build/error panel and have it on the same screen as the PDF, since I only need to look ...

What do the Find 1 and Find 2 panels do?

I was playing around with the new TXC this afternoon and I realized that I have never used the Find 1 or Find 2 panels, either in the previous version or this one. In fact, I can't remember ever seeing anything in those panels, just a blank. I tried doing a search while the Find 1 panel was open ...

TXC 2.0 Alpha 1 (Build 1012) minor bug and feature request

I've been using TC for years and am writing my thesis on it right now. I just switched over to the new alpha build and I'm loving it. I'm very happy with the search function on the references and the ability to move around the tabs (both feature requests I posted long ago). I also like the ability ...

Re: "Not a valid remote package repository" Error

It must have been a server issue, because all of a sudden, today I can install packages. I didn't change anything, I didn't do anything different, I just gave it "one more try" and the package I previously tried to install and failed, worked (in fact, it was the same package and repository that gave ...

"Not a valid remote package repository" Error

I installed MikTeX 2.7 on my new computer (XP SP3) a couple weeks ago, and transferred my LaTeX documents over from my old laptop. I tried to build my thesis, which uses about 20 packages. Whenever MikTeX tries to install one of the packages, I get a "Not a valid remote package repository" error. I ...

Re: How do I control vertical spacing in a tabular environment?

I guess it's a fair trade, and with a few minutes of tweaking, my table looks much better now.

Thanks for your help!

Re: How do I control vertical spacing in a tabular environment?

Almost perfect! However, the code above fixes the column widths, whereas before the widths were calculated on the fly. Is there a way for the widths to be variable, or do I just need to mess with it until they're right?

How do I control vertical spacing in a tabular environment?

I've got a table with pictures in them, a generic version of which is below. When I compile this, whether I use longtable or tabular, the text entries are aligned at the bottoms of their respective cells, with the baseline of the figures. I would like for them to be centered vertically. On the last ...
