Thankis for reply. I've contacted to Christian Schenk, he argues that it is xp-specific problem, and this mgs.exe works well on 32-bit Windows 7. Maybe, Service Pack 3 is needed

Recently (some weeks ago) I updated MiKTeX on PC with Windows XP. However, dvipdfmx is loosing all eps picture, and the reason (as I see) in 'not win32' mgs. When I try to launch mgs.exe (in miktex\bin directory) the message like 'mgs is not a valid win32 application' is popped up. I do know ...

I've novice in TexWorks (but not in LaTeX), because used Winedit until now. Trying to port on TeXWorks I've recognized that it is not suggested codepage cp866nav which I'm using for preparing my texts. I'm ready to add this cp manually, but I cannot find the directory contained codepages ...
