I understand what you are saying and it is probably a good point. I have checked the formatting requirements for the document I am generating and of course they don't have any.

I have a simple MWE where I have an acronym that I reference. The first time it puts out the full name with the acronym and every subsequent time it puts out just the acronym. Thank you. I was reluctant to modify the glossary distribution, but in my document, I placed:

I am having trouble removing an extra period from the altlist glossary style in the glossaries package. Basically, the glossaries package places a period at the end of the description. This is problematic if the description contains a reference (which has to go after the period). Here is a MWE ...

Turns out that I was looking at an old file again and again. Now using 2015 version of latex2e. This 'ticket' can be closed.
