The Chapter thing's a silent error that doesn't stop lyx from removing it from the pulldown list which is the point of all the NoStyle lines so not really a problem.
I am annoyed with myself for that extra a and that missing close ". Thanks for pointing them out.
But you also changed the Alph for ...

Re: How to add "exam" to document class?
I looked at your file but I only spotted a few stylistic preferences you'd changed, nothing that should have caused an error. What errors were you getting?

Re: How to add "exam" to document class?
You can add itemize back by opening your layout file and typing a % at the start of the line that says "NoStyle Itemize". I disabled a bunch of the basic styles that didn't seem likely to come up in an exam document so there'd be less to have to scroll through in the pulldown menu to find the class ...

Re: Possible to Change Editing Layout?
You want to change the way it appears on screen for editing? That's pretty easy to do if you're willing to learn LyX Layout coding (it's in a couple of different Help menu documents). You use Document menu>Settings>Local Layout to put your changes in - they'll only change the way it looks on your ...

Re: Typing delayed, Split screen, Lyx laggy, 100% CPU, Linux
It does sound like a problem with the document size then. I'd suggest that you separate each section into its own document and then make a master document where you input (Insert menu>File) each of the section documents in the correct order to put the whole thing together again. Re: Typing delayed, Split screen, Lyx laggy, 100% CPU, Linux
The largest file I've used LyX for Windows on was 150k+ word and that was while running other programs at the same time and I haven't had any lag at all - it's ability to handle large documents without lagging on autosave is the main reason I use it. So let's have you try a few things.

Re: Exporting odt-files from LyX
LyX puts it in a temp folder and deletes them on exit - you have to Save As within the odt program before closing LyX to keep it. Check the location of your temp folder in LyX Tools>Preferences>Paths>Temporary Directory, or watch the lower left corner of the LyX screen while it exports - it shows ...

Re: Lyx compilation error
OK, it doesn't know what to do with the trnumber you've given it in the preamble. Check your package documentation and any templates you have to make sure you've formatted that part correctly.
