List of Equations

Is there a way to obtain a list of equations, similiar to that of \listoffigures, or \listoftables ?

LaTeX word count

Does anyone know of any simple LaTeX word count packages? I was hoping for something simple along the lines of:

\usepackage{\somewordcountthing}

TEXT...
\wordcount (to display the number of words in the text)

Preferably: Does not include reference or abstract or any of the tables of contents ...

When using a float environment - how exactly does LaTeX decide, where *looks nice* for your picture - i can't seem to find any rhyme or reason other than it has an affinity for sticking it at the top of the next page for me.

Re: Introduction

I'm sure I would in the context of a research paper - but I don't consider that a short document - even Phys. Lett. are a few pages long and require enough formatting to justify the LaTeX faf.

Re: BaKomaTeX

Introduction

Hey, I'm new on the board - originally came from LaTeX based frustrations, but the help has been so good and so quick, I fancy just sticking around for a bit. My experience with LaTeX starts and ends with what I'm mandated to do with it by my physics degree. Not that I don't like it (though ...

BaKomaTeX

I found a WYSIWIG TeX editor - which for LaTeX noobs like myself - is like the holy grail of LaTeX. It's called BaKomaTeX

http://www.bakoma-tex.com/

Catch is, they want $55 for it, so my question is, it worth the money? does anyone know if it is any good?
