I managed to resolve this problem myself, or so I think. By a process of trial and error, I determined that certain figures were being placed outside of the page boundaries and causing the pdf generator to choke. Perhaps this experience may help others avoid the same problem.

I am compiling (typesetting) a fairly long latex document (5000 lines) using the 'LaTeX' and 'TeX and DVI' options under the typeset menu. The typesetting process seems to complete successfully (no latex errors) but then fails to generate the associated pdf file. Here is the error message at the ...

The following is an example of a section of code that is found in a style file called "tsmathtime.sty". This file is simply the "mathtime.sty" file plus a block of new code.

Try using MiKTex 2.8 and including the extension .eps with your file name. MiKTeX 2.8 partially enables \write18, which may solve your problem.
