Thanks for the info! I see much clearer now.
I have a follow-up question though:

biblatex with BibTeX and XeLaTeX: Unicode compatible?
Hi community,
I'm highly confused at the moment, I'm hoping that someone here can help me out:
Can I use Unicode characters in the bib file if I'm using biblatex with BibTeX as a backend and compiling with XeLaTex?
And more generally, which combination of what handles Unicode and which doesn't ...

Re: Different graphics formats -- which to choose?
Hi Stefan,
thanks for your reply.
Sorry, I wasn't being clear enough. I was only talking about scaleable formats, and whether I should be using EPS or not. (PDF seems to be the way to go.)

Hi guys,
thanks for the input!
From this https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/Imp ... ge_formats I understand that for pdftex the best option is to use the pdf format, if possible, right?

Hi, it's me!
Hello everyone,
I thought, I'd introduce myself before I start asking away: my name is Kelp and I hope to find some help here :)
I've already got some experience with LaTex: I've set two papers and a number of smaller projects. Then I tried my hand XeTeX ... not much luck yet!
