two years ago I wrote a booklet using as editor TeXMaker and I didn't have any problems.

Now having to modify it I tried to recompile the old code, but I get three annoying problems.

I'm writing a document which is getting too big. So I decided to split it into different files using the command \include. To my surprise I'm not able to do a search in all files, as far as I understand it's possibile to do a search only in the file which you are working on.

When I have a problem, firstly I browse the documentation I downloaded, then I browse the web... and after some days of browsing I ask for help.

The problem is that the documentation is as an ocean... and in most cases, chiefly in case of packages, not well done, e.g. they don't give any example ...

I need to put a footnote in a framed text.

I tried this:

What kinds of images does your document contain?

JPG/EPS

It should be easy enough to convert them a format compatible with pdflatex in most cases, perhaps even on the fly.

How?

BTW, I converted the pdf page to image and inserted it as jpg.
