I am suffering from the same problem, but using Winedt. Problem is, the error messages OP mentioned are given as errors, not warnings, so I cannot compile documents at all.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: BibTeX prevents Compilation
I was thinking something along these lines, but I cannot seem to locate the option that would disable these BibTex compilation attempts.
What is perhaps more perplexing is that I have installed Winedt many times in the past, and these errors had never occurred, so I do not understand how the ...

Ok, I just replaced the computer I was using to run WinEdt at the beginning of the week, transferring all my old Latex documents over to the new machine, and creating a fresh install of MikTex and WinEdt.

Ok, here is the link:
http://www.photonics.umd.edu/umd/index.html
Scroll down the page until you see Optics Letters LaTex Template. It should download a file named ol.zip. That is the template I am using.

Need Help Removing Text from an Optics Letters Templates
I am taking a lab course in which lab reports are supposed to be written in the same format as "Optics Letters." Nothing is actually going to be submitted to optics letters, its just an exercise so we will know how to write journal papers.
