tipa package error: Missing \begin{document}
Hi,
the following minimal document
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{tipa}
\begin{document}
whatever
\end{document}
won't compile under a freshly installed MikTex 2.9 distribution plus a freshly installed "tipa" package on a Windows 7 machine. It always gives the following error:

Hi, is there a way of automatically reordering rows in a table, e.g. alphabetically according to the items in the n-th column? Thanx

Re: alignment in tabular
Very cool, thank you both. Realized I forgot to put there ">". For a new line inside a cell, also \linebreak works well.

Thanks a lot! I didn't find out how to make the specification in the column definition (what you suggested gives me an error), but doing it in particular cells works perfectly.

alignment in tabular
Hi everybody,
I need a table of the following format:
X | text in two lines | Y | paragraph-like text
The problem with using {c|p{x}|c|p{x}}:
If I break the line in the second column (to create the needed second line), the text of the first line spans over the whole width of the column, which ...

Re: new and with problems :)
Hi, in case you're still following, this is where I am now. I tried out this: \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}, it didn't do anything more than without it (it still cannot do \v{r} and a circle above u). I looked at the Czech pages, for my current knowledge, it seems far too difficult, they presuppose a lot ...

Re: new and with problems :)
Dear Balf and Stefan, thank you both very much. Now I'm out of work (at my Mac where everything works fine :)), so tomorrow I'll try it out again. R.

Re: new and with problems :)
It shouldn't be a compatibility problem - I didn't transfer any data from one to another, I was simply trying the same in Windows. So probably you're right, Windows doesn't seem to be able to cope with utf8. I've tried [ansinew] and it does the job only partly. It can parse some symbols but not ...

new and with problems :)
Thank you so much! Finally I found the BibTeX thing and it works. Any suggestions as for my second problem?
