Thanks for these links. I don't know if the margin is caused by reserved space of a sidebar or a navigation bar. I tried to get rid of sidebar using
\setbeamersize{sidebar width left=0cm}
and navigation bar using
\documentclass[compress]{beamer}
but neither worked. My MWE .tex file ...
