... i had set the wrong margins,
here's a bit of preamble that works:

\documentclass[12pt,a4paper,twoside,openright]{scrbook}

... sorry guys for the intrusion, the margins i had set were wrong.
For a twoside openright book, the left margin should be the big one to give enough space for binding.

i run into the same problem, but putting twoside in the documentclass options doesn't work for me... i erased all bbl, aux, mtc etc etc files before re-compiling for the 100th time, still doesn't work... here's a bit of the preamble:

I tried helvetica, but: \usepackage{helvet}) changes the default sas-serif font to Helvetica, but leaves the Roman and Monospace fonts alone (copied pasted from http://www.image.ufl.edu/help/latex/fonts.shtml). I am writing a manual that needs to be out yesterday, so i didn't ...

I changed the fonts of my document to arial, and now the \textsc{small caps} command has no effect anymore... am i doing something wrong (bit of preamble below) ? or is it just this way ?
